Elizabeth de Jong

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth is responsible for the overall management and effectiveness of Fuels Industry UK as the UK's principal advocate for the downstream oil sector. Elizabeth has over 20 years’ experience in a range of advocacy, stakeholder engagement and business planning roles covering the diverse interests of operators, government and supply chain companies across the transport sector in the UK. Elizabeth was Director of Policy at Logistics UK and has worked for the UK Government's Department for Transport and the Rail Delivery Group.

Jamie Baker

Director of External Relations

As Director of External Relations, Jamie Baker is responsible for Fuels Industry UK's outreach to our industry's key stakeholders in government, industry, the media and the wider public. Appointed in September 2018, with over 10 years experience in government, Jamie's role integrates Fuels Industry UK's external advocacy and engagement with outreach to our members and associates.

Dr Andy Roberts

Director of Downstream Policy

As Director of Downstream Policy, Andy Roberts is responsible for anticipating and assessing emerging policy and regulatory challenges affecting the UK’s refining and downstream fuel sector. Andy has over 30 years’ experience in the oil industry and works closely with Fuels Industry UK's members on a range of areas including climate change and the environment, chemicals regulations, health and safety and fuels quality.  

Chris Gould

Energy Transition Lead

As Energy Transition Lead, Chris Gould plays a key role in the delivery of key objectives related to the energy transition and transformation of the downstream oil sector to support the vision, mission and strategic objectives of Fuels Industry UK. Chris joined in January 2022, and has 23 years of experience in the refining industry in a wide range of fields including Fuels Quality, Product Specification Development, Biofuels, and Compulsory Stock Obligations.

Simon Wood

Environment, Health and Safety Specialist

As Environment, Health and Safety Specialist, Simon Wood provides Fuels Industry UK members with expert advice on regulatory developments for environmental, process safety and occupational health and safety topics across the downstream oil sector. Simon Joined Fuels Industry UK's predecessor organisation, UKPIA, in January 2020 having previously gained experience with EDF Energy and the British Standards Institution developing and deploying strategies to deliver consensus through improved stakeholder understanding during negotiations. 

Andrew Tristem

Communications Specialist

Andrew helps to deliver Fuels Industry UK's messages whilst enhancing the profile of the downstream oil sector to policymakers, the media and the public. Andrew joined in February 2022 with a background in Government and the media and his responsibilities include media relations and communications as well as advocacy to external stakeholders and leading delivery of our publications.

Jason Poon

Energy Transition Analyst

As Energy Transition Analyst, Jason’s key responsibilities include analysing the current energy sector in a data driven and scientific approach to provide a fair and balanced view of the need and process for a swift and just energy transition. Joining in September 2022, Jason is a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh, where he specialises in sustainable energy systems engineering with an undergraduate background in Physics.

Emelio Marin

Industry secondee to BEIS

Emelio was appointed as the industrial secondee into the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy's (BEIS) Downstream Oil Resilience team in 2022. Emelio has 30 years of industry experience in oil and gas refining.  

Bruce Rothberg

Government Affairs & Stakeholder Relationships Specialist

Bruce helps to deliver Fuel Industry UK's outreach to our key stakeholders in government and industry. Bruce joined in February 2023 with experience in public affairs and communications for highly regulated sectors. Bruce’s role includes delivering, influencing and advocacy campaigns for Fuels Industry UK’s priority policy areas as part of the External Relations team.
