Elizabeth de Jong

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth is responsible for the overall management and effectiveness of Fuels Industry UK as the UK's principal advocate for the downstream oil sector. An economist by background, Elizabeth has deep experience in public and private sector interface roles including at industry representative bodies and in central government, plus commercial, delivery, and strategy roles for UK plcs. Elizabeth was Director of Policy at Logistics UK prior to joining Fuels Industry UK and has worked for the UK Government's Department for Transport and the Rail Delivery Group.

Jamie Baker

Director of External Relations

As Director of External Relations, Jamie Baker is responsible for Fuels Industry UK's outreach to our industry's key stakeholders in government, industry, the media and the wider public. Appointed in September 2018, with over 10 years experience in government, Jamie's role integrates Fuels Industry UK's external advocacy and engagement with outreach to our members and associates.

Peter Webb

Policy Director

As Policy Director, Peter Webb is responsible for anticipating and assessing emerging policy and regulatory challenges affecting the UK’s refining and fuels industry sector. Peter has almost 30 years’ experience in the hydrocarbon and energy industries and works closely with Fuels Industry UK's members on a range of topics including emissions trading, sound energy transition policy, the environment and fuels quality.

Chris Gould

Energy Transition Lead

As Energy Transition Lead, Chris Gould plays a key role in the delivery of key objectives related to the energy transition and transformation of the downstream oil sector to support the vision, mission and strategic objectives of Fuels Industry UK. Chris joined in January 2022, and has 23 years of experience in the refining industry in a wide range of fields including Fuels Quality, Product Specification Development, Biofuels, and Compulsory Stock Obligations.

Simon Wood

Environment, Health and Safety Specialist

As Environment, Health and Safety Specialist, Simon Wood provides Fuels Industry UK members with expert advice on regulatory developments for environmental, process safety and occupational health and safety topics across the downstream oil sector. Simon Joined Fuels Industry UK's predecessor organisation, UKPIA, in January 2020 having previously gained experience with EDF Energy and the British Standards Institution developing and deploying strategies to deliver consensus through improved stakeholder understanding during negotiations.

Bruce Rothberg

Government Affairs Specialist

Bruce helps to deliver Fuel Industry UK's outreach to our key stakeholders in government and industry. Bruce joined in February 2023 with experience in public affairs and communications for highly regulated sectors. Bruce’s role includes delivering, influencing and advocacy campaigns for Fuels Industry UK’s priority policy areas as part of the External Relations team.

Alana Hepburn

Communications Specialist

Alana helps to deliver Fuels Industry UK's messages whilst enhancing the profile of the downstream oil sector to policymakers, the media and the public. Coming from New Zealand and having previously worked in the gas sector, Alana joined the team in April 2024 with a background in Communications and Public Relations. Alana's responsibilities include social media, website management, design work, communications, and leading delivery of our publications.

Dr Daniel Greenblatt

Energy Transition Analyst

As an Energy Transition Analyst, Daniel models and provides data analysis of trends in the downstream energy sector to develop Fuel Industry UK’s position on the changes it is undergoing. Daniel joined the team in June 2025 after completing a PhD and Post-doctoral Research Associate role at Imperial College London. He applies his background in low-carbon fuel fundamentals, and experience in both computational modelling and experimental design to provide meaningful and actionable insights on the downstream energy sector.

Andy Short

Industry secondee to DESNZ

Andy was appointed as the industrial secondee into the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) in 2024. Andy has 15 years of industrial experience at ExxonMobil.

Fuels Industry UK is governed by our Council which is formed of senior representatives nominated by our members.

The Council (Fuels Industry UK's Board of Directors) meets regularly throughout the year and sets the strategy for Fuels Industry UK, as well as monitoring delivery of our objectives.

The Council is supported by a number of committees covering key industry topics and ensures Fuels Industry UK's legal and ethical obligations and all employees comply with its requirements. Fuels Industry UK has a zero-tolerance policy to bribery and corruption reflected by the way we run our business and for which all Fuels Industry UK team members and Directors receive training.
