First established in 2012 in recognition of the need to address the cumulative impact of policies on the EU refining industry, the Refining Forum brings together representatives from industry, Member States, Commission, European Parliament, and other key stakeholders to discuss planned and future regulatory proposals with potentially significant impacts on the EU’s refining industry and on the security of supply of petroleum products.
For the first time since it was established, the Forum will meet at expert level, allowing a more in-depth discussion of issues relevant to the European refining sector. The 1st expert meeting of the EU Refining Forum will be followed by a high-level meeting in the first half of 2018.
Chris Hunt, Director General of the UKPIA, said: “The first expert meeting of the EU Refining Forum represents an important opportunity to discuss in more depth recent developments in EU refining and remain focused on the value of this strategic industry. Dialogue and cooperation are more relevant than ever to safeguard industrial competitiveness across Europe and the long-term opportunities for the sector.”
