Today, UKPIA launches its refreshed Process Safety Leadership Commitment statement supported by all eight member companies and six associates.
Chris Hunt commented “UKPIA, its members and associates recognise the critical importance of Process Safety for all operators in the downstream and midstream oil sectors. A strong performance and leadership in this area are key to protecting people and the environment. By refreshing our commitment statement, we reaffirm our pledge to the UKPIA Assuring Safety strategy and to the principles of the Process Safety Leadership Group”.

- UKPIA represents eight oil refining and marketing companies operating in the UK, which also own approximately 1,800 of the UK's 8,591 service stations, and own and operate the six major crude oil processing refineries in the UK.

- The Process Safety Leadership Group (PSLG) was established in 2007 to succeed the Buncefield Standards Task Group, formed in 2006 following the Buncefield oil terminal incident. Its members included: HSE, Environment Agency, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, UKPIA, Tank Storage Association, British Pipeline Agency, Chemical Industry Association and Unite the Union.
